The intense urban heat island effect in Hong Kong means high temperature in built-up areas, which leads to heat stress and other related health problems. The issues of health and comfort in urban space become even more complicated in face of the challenges brought about by climate change. With better understanding of the dynamics between the built environment and the microclimate, and advocacy of green buildings, could we design a more liveable and healthier urban environment?
